Technical description of the terroir

Stratified scree with a bed of clay (red paleosol) composed of Villafranchian (=referring to the period when climatic oscillations leading to the Quaternary glaciations began) Durancian gravel (=originating from the River Durance). The soils are predominantly composed of small, rolled pebbles, and are generally drought-resistant.
