VIGNERONS ENGAGÉS: OUR CSR APPROACH

Why did we choose Vignerons Engagés?

Putting our winegrowers back at the heart of the cooperative; helping them to be aware of current and future challenges; being transparent with our employees; bringing men and women together to work on joint projects for our future. These are the commitments we wish to make and share with our customers and all our stakeholders as part of a continuous improvement approach.

« Vignerons Engagés » is the only organisation and the only current CSR framework that can meet these challenges. This is how we want to build both the future and development of Vignerons Créateurs.

Vignerons Engagés, the first french sustainability & CSR Certification in Wine industry

Created in 2010, Vignerons Engagés is the wine industry’s first CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) label. It brings together 6,000 winegrowers and cellar employees from 8 wine-growing regions, representing 90 PDOs in France. It is based on a global set of specifications coupled with 4 fundamental pillars: Acting for the environment; Guaranteeing quality from vine to glass; Supporting the region and local heritage; Offering a fair price for the consumer and the producer.

These specifications are based on the ISO 2600 standard and are audited every 18 months by AFNOR Certification.

OUR ACTIONS

Our energetic performance

In June 2021, we embarked on major projects at our 3 production sites: renovating the roofs to improve insulation and installing photovoltaic panels. This translates to 6,000 m2 of renovated roofs and the installation of 3 photovoltaic power plants.

Through these projects key objectives were set: to be more energy-efficient; and to guarantee optimum insulation for chilled wines stored in the best possible conditions.

The 3 PV solar power stations have been operational since October 2022 and the initial results are very encouraging! For example, the photovoltaic plant installed at the Bellegarde winery (30, Gard) produces around 650 kWh per day on a sunny day, which is equivalent to 2 approximately 2 months of electricity consumption by an average household.

Protecting the Environment

From the outset, our producers have been concerned about the various environmental issues they deal with on a daily basis. Together, they have decided to work together for a sustainable agro-ecological transition..

It all began in 1997 when some of our producers committed to organic farming. The area under organic cultivation has grown steadily and now accounts for 20% of our total vineyard area.

Today, more than 85 % of our vineyard surface is concerned by positive initiatives such as HVE, Organic or Terra Vitis certifications.
